He tried to #profit from them, which led the #NewYork #legislature to pass the first of its kind so-called #sonofsam #law designed to prevent #criminals from #legally profiting from their crimes. Other states have enacted similar laws.

For over a year, more #attacks terrified and transfixed the city. #DavidBerkowitz was #arrested and #convicted of #Killing 6 and #wounding 11. He claimed he had been ordered to kill by a #demonic #dog owned by his neighbor named Sam, a story he later recanted.
