After yesterday's blue skies,a grey rainy day of work in the Hamlets Local Reserve with David Reeves from smallwoods. Across all sectors we focused on uprooting invasive cherry Laurel, clearing trees fallen across Paths, making log piles and ring barking selected trees that hopefully will become standing nature reserves of dead wood in themselves for myriad species including wood peckers, owls and bats for 30 years to come.

I've been out and about in the Nature Reserve this week.A bit damp and dark but Spring is on the way And the "Bugs Life" project to save and restore the heathland habitat on the Parish mound in Manor Rd is well underway.

Last couple of days I've been out in the woods with experts who'll be developing a plan to increase biodiversity in the Hamlets Local I've learned loads.By chance we bumped into the contractors who have already started on our project with "bugs Life" to preserve and restore the heathland on Parish mound by cutting back gorse.
All this is on ex .and industrial wasteland

Walked 8km(blackline)around 7 of the C19th within 1km of our house.Somein the some not. 50years ago they were still pretty bare of life but now there's oak woodland up to that age and some interesting/unexpected species.
