For the last maybe 10 years I’ve been using a journaling app called #DayOne as a diary. As times goes on it's really interesting to see what happened "on this day 8 years ago”. Learned recently of a new app called #Daylio and have checked it out. I don't think it'll replace DayOne for me, but Daylio is mostly free and has some improvements over DO so I thought y'all might like to know about it. It's better than DO as it's possible to "microjournal" with it. You can just choose your mood from 5 options, and then there are sections for things like health, social, chores etc. So in 10 sec you could click on Good, and then Cooking, Gym, Movies and tv, and that's it. You can also add full notes like a real diary if you want, along with photos, and it also has a goal tracker and comprehensive stats per day. I really like it. For instance, today I just chose good, coffee, dishes.

@jdbartee I had grand plans for a template with mood check-ins, tracking for various activities, standardized prompts, etc.
I was basically going to try to replicate the excellent #Daylio app that I’ve been using for about a year now.
The problem is, I’ve kind of fallen off Daylio because it’s easy enough to click through those kind of prompts without actually interrogating the thoughts that are truly running through my head. So I’m going to try free-formin’ it for awhile.
Mood tracking is a technique in positive psychology that includes the tracking, recording, and analysis of a person’s mood. Doctors usually recommend it to patients who want to improve their #MentalHealth.

charted my mood, thinking of changing my #Daylio color palette this year. Mr Mittens tried to step in wet ink :zagmad:
My average daily mood for 2022. Better than expected tbh #daylio #yearinpixels #goodbye2022 #happynewyear

My 2022 in a nutshell! #daylio
Average mood better than expected, with Sunday being my best day 🤔 and April my best month.
One of my therapy goals is to feel more of the feelings, so let's see if 2023 will bring more greener greens/more redder reds (surprisingly absent in this graph, while I truly had some properly shitty days/weeks last year)
If you can't stop collecting #data:
In 2022, I slavishingly used the icon diary app #Daylio...which now estimates the mood-related effects of several daily actions for me. Longitudinal data, myum! 😄
Not so sure about my general tendency towards the affective middle, though...

Just finished putting my personal goals for 2023 into the Daylio app.
I have been using Daylio for the last year, and it is actually a pretty good way of keeping track on progress, make notes for yourself and keep kind of a simple journal.
Keeping track is important. Because when you track, it is easier to reflect. And when you reflect, it is easier to learn. And when you learn, you - generally - improve.
Does anyone know of a FOSS alternative to the #Daylio app? I have 1230 days on it and it's very useful to me, despite being so simple. It seems that the app doesn't work well with CalyxOS/AuroraStore/microG though.
Features I use:
- daily tracking of mood, activities, notes and photo memories
- mood graphs
- goals

The #daylio app has a half price premium sale on so I decided to buy it because I've been using it for about 10 months now and thought why not show my appreciation!
So then I added more goals (you can only have one in the free mode) and one was learn a language so I then installed #duolingo for the first time and decided to try learning #Welsh, because it's an official language of these isles and I have family from the English side of the border so I've visited Wales quite a bit.
Another goal I added was to read every day, which I'm so bad at right now but a little daily nudge will be just what I need!
Yay for productivity and learning!
