Last night we discussed the roaming bands of Triffids, but we did not discuss possible band names.

I produce for @Taweret, so my band would probably have to be The Squelchers.

What is the name of your Triffid band?

To consider,how does time and place impact the growth of the main characters in #Dayofthetriffids? One key factor in setting, was the island our drunken scientist is stranded on, how does this impact his character growth? Could he have survived elsewhere? Other characters move from London places of high regularity, (Hospital to train station,) where we get to view the disorder of the invasion as it impacts the City, how do these characters change as they move from place to place to escape?

When viewing science fiction, it makes sense to focus first upon setting. Setting in all literature is 2 things, time and place. In sci fi, setting is given preferential treatment in terms of detail to characterization. For this reason, explication of setting /almost as if it were a character/ can make the themes of the work clear. Setting in sci fi is often liminal, meaning it exerts a heavy influence upon the characters in the story, it changes them and serves as a foil. #dayofthetriffids
