Amalyn: “Healthy lifestyle? Are you trying to imply something about my nightly habit of drinking at the pub until our useless king’s useless guards find a reason to arrest me?

If you want me to eat better and exercise, then give me a job that will take me far away from this hellhole. Preferably somewhere near a goblin settlement. They’ve got the only cooks in the kingdom that have heard of spices.”

Dorothea: “I’m sure my sister would say that dedicating myself to a life of vengeance against demons doesn’t make for a healthy lifestyle. But she just can’t accept that the only reason I even have a life is that The Lady sent me back from the dead with her ‘gifts’ for this exact thing.

I still ain’t clear on whether She’s the one genuine god or whether She made me a genuine angel. I just know this is what I do until all the demons are back in Hell where they belong.”

Bethany: “Dad says I have a unique anatomy and it almost doesn’t matter what I eat or drink, as long as I eat and drink plenty. But I do try not to drink too many milkshakes, even though I’m pretty sure they’re the pinnacle of human achievement.

For exercise I love to swim. I’d swim even if it were bad for me. The water feels like…sanctuary. Is that weird? Maybe it’s got to do with something from my past I can’t remember.”

Liesel: “I know mother and I aren’t eating enough, especially for the number of hours we work in a day. But these days you can’t grow much on this land except goats. Even the goats are malnourished, and goats could probably find something to graze on in the middle of a volcano.

And no, we’re not eating the goats! If we did I wouldn’t have any friends.”
