I want the design of glowdust to make some common operations on functions easily expressible.
One of these is finding the fixed point of a function. For a function f, you can find fixed points with a query that looks like
x -> f* -> x return x
with '*' being the "zero or more repeats" path quantifier.
Fixed point after at most 10 repeats?
x -> f{..10} -> x return x
Fixed point of a composition of f and g?
x -> (f -> g)* -> x
A brief, biased and incomplete history of database models:

A small piece I wrote last week, and I'll have you know at least one person thought it was ok.
If you're kind of...weird about #databases and #database accessories, you may find my new post interesting
https://radiki.dev/posts/glowdust-store/
I made a new database model. It's based on functions, it's queried with a currying like structure and it's overwhelmingly under documented.
But I think it's kind of cool. I even gave it a name.
Go ahead, give it a read, tell me what you think.

Have you ever written a custom data store that you released to production, before?
While most developers will store things in off-the-shelf DBMSes, such as MySQL (and alternatives), PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra, but sometimes, I suspect some problems may call for writing a custom DBMS from scratch.
I don't know what those problems are, this is why I'm asking.
(If you are the author of an off-the-shelf DBMS that people outside of your organization are using, I know it's tempting to answer, but I prefer people who had to write a custom solution.)

@ascherbaum "it’s suboptimal to write #DBMS specific apps and services"
Yeah, let's optimize for an unknown target without being able to tell how the storage backend will react to certain workloads.

Wow.

@mikebabcock @Di4na @alex The worst part is that while #PreparedStatements aren't in the #SQL standard (as far as I can tell), pretty much every single SQL #DBMS has supported them in the last two decades.

I've always seen the #Web as a fascinating #DataConnectivity, #DataAccess, and #DBMS frontier .
For instance, I use a variety of patterns ("Save As", "Bookmark" etc.) to save interesting data (extracted from #HTML doc content) into a publicly accessible #DataSpace.
Here's a link to the results of a #SPARQL query scoped to a particular #KnowledgeGraph.
