American Tree Sparrow
Comments: "Sound only. Identified by Merlin SoundID. May have actually been a tufted titmouse."
Kenilworth was COLD today. And snowy. But I stuck it out to eventually see a fox sparrow, thrasher, and raven. #DCBirding
This morning I went #Birding in #DC, to McMillan Reservoir in Northwest. Thanks to a friend already present, I saw the 4 Cackling Geese and 2 Greater White-fronted Geese which have been there for a few days. This was the first time I'd seen either species in a few years. 😀 #DCBirding
favorite bird I saw yesterday— Kestrel. Today—hermit thrush. #dcbirding
Watched a red tailed hawk hunt, catch, and devour a robin today. I am afraid to look at my photos. #dcbirding
Morning #Birding, Washington DC #ChristmasBirdCount. Fort Dupont Park in S.E. DC held bunches of sparrows including a Field that I didn't see and a Swamp that I heard and barely saw. An adult Bald Eagle circled overhead twice; a Brown Creeper was in the woods near two flickers. #DCBirding #DC

This afternoon I birded along the Potomac River in Washington, DC. I was able to see the Eared Grebe that was found this morning, and saw an Orange-crowned Warbler and a Pine Warbler at a different spot. #DCBirding #Birding #DC
Monday afternoon #Birding in Washington #DC at the same place as yesterday (National Arboretum). This time for the lingering Wilson's Warbler discovered a few days ago. Though it was reported into the early afternoon, by the time I arrived at 2:15, it was not being seen. I stayed for an hour, hung out with two birders I didn't know very well, saw an adult male Northern Harrier flying over. There was also a Red-breasted Nuthatch in a pine tree. #DCBirding #Birding #Birds #Birder #Birders

Sunday afternoon #Birding: We found out about a Western Tanager in Washington, DC. It would be a first record for DC and a species that I haven't seen in several many years. We didn't see it, but did run into some birding friends, and saw 2 female-plumaged Purple Finches, and 2 Brown Creepers playing tag. The weather was nice, too. #DC #DCBirding
Afternoon birding: several species of ducks, cormorants on a platform in a small lake, resting Great Blue Heron, a Fox Sparrow sang a few beautiful songs. Also a Field Sparrow and an adult Bald Eagle #Birding #MarylandBirding #MDBirding #DCBirding
