No idea if there are any #DCI fans on Masto, but this is finals weekend (seems a week or two early to me, but times change). I'm not a hardcore fan - I get motivated for a year or two, then something distracts me for 5 or 6 or 10.

In the cheap seats, sipping a beer, watching prelims is a very fond memory from my misspent youth.

The folks at FloMarching have been streaming some of prelims on YouTube, and a couple of weeks ago they were streaming DCI South prelims. It's cool to see how some of the shows have changed in 14 days, and it's cool to see kids pushing themselves doing something creative and demanding.

This year, I'm stoked that two corps from the northwest made top 25, and even more stoked that Columbians topped Cascades - that must have been one fierce tour rivalry this summer.

And I got to see Blue Stars today, and was very impressed with the show. The costume changes were frosting on a wonderful cake of drill and music. Good job, fam: FCO! Now go beat Colts ;)

Closing out the show was our new hometown corps, the Cadets. They had an incredible performance as always. I'm looking forward to seeing more of them now that they're local.

Jersey Surf showed the crowd that they don't need bright colors to "Express Themselves", and showed the crowd their true colors while wearing all black.

Special shoutout to the lead trumpets. As a former lead player myself, I usually try to avoid standing in front of that section. I was only a few feet in front of them for this standstill, and they sounded great!

I just uploaded 200+ photos of Raiders and Les Stentors from #Syracuse #DCI to Flickr. Les Stentors is always one of my favourites, and so is Les Mis, so their show was a perfect combination. Raiders' show "Circus Reversus" was filled with fun (as any circus should be).

Spartans Drum & Bugle Corps were the biggest surprise for me at the Syracuse show this year. They brought a WORLD class show to the OPEN class field! It will be interesting to see how things play out in Indy.

Ever since I first saw them on #FloMarching, I've been wanting to see a live performance of the Calgary Stampede Showband.
I finally got my chance a few days ago in Syracuse. They did not disappoint! This was one of the most fun crowd-pleasing shows that I've ever seen! If they don't come back next year, I might have to make a trip over to Alberta to see them perform at their Rodeo.

PSA for any #datacentre #infrastructure / #dci types who follow me; if you use kWh metering #Enlogic "Advantage Series" #PDU s, certainly the per-outlet metered EN6329 that we use, we uncovered they were only actually recording half the expected energy consumption(!)

They have confirmed that they have reproduced the issue and are currently testing the next build that addresses this issue, expected to release in a couple of weeks.

I've had one foot stuck in this #DCI-P3 #ColorSpace rabbit hole for days. Found a simple test page for browser support: https://www.wide-gamut.com/test

But even in iOS Safari it did not show #P3 support... Last night I found out why - my #DarkReader extension blocked it. Disable DarkReader and the differences from #sRGB are obvious. (Safari's native Reader Mode allows P3, but it breaks a bit of the page content.) Other iOS browsers also support P3. No Windows or Linux browsers I tried can.

The algo thought I should listen to this, and it wasn't wrong.
