Does anyone experienced with #SelfHosting and #DynamicDNS #DDNS have opinions about TTLs for home servers?

I'm working on setting up an old laptop for hosting my projects and personal site, but I'm also paranoid about leaving my home network open to the internet.

I currently use Cloudflare, but I'm unsure if the default TTL for proxied records (five minutes) is sensible for DDNS.

အဲ့တာနဲ့ Dynamic DNS (DDNS) နဲ့ စမ်းကြည့်ပြန်တော့လည်း ဘာလို့လည်းမသိဘူး၊ No-IP နဲ့ချိတ်တာ ချိတ်မရ။ ဒါပေမယ့် TP-Link က free ပေးထားတဲ့ DDNS လည်း ရှိသေးတော့ အဲ့တာနဲ့စမ်းကြည့်မယ်ဆိုပြီး TP-Link အကောင့်ဖွင့်ပြီး ချိတ်ကြည့်လိုက်တော့မှပဲ အဆင်ပြေသွားတော့တယ်။ :)

If you use #ddclient for your #ddns, beware. In my Debian install, ddclient.conf had read access for all users, giving access to DDNS credentals to virtually all users.

Just so you realize how dangerous this is, anybody with access to a user account can change your A records and point them to their own servers, without you noticing. And all of this from a very simple API.

Cloudflare has saved me countless times from attacks.

Per a poder escriure el tutorial de com instal·lar #Mastodon en la #Raspberry, he creat un compte en un servei #DDNS on actualitzar-hi la IP pública.
Dynu {d}DNS (https://www.dynu.com) està força bé i permet actualitzar la IP pública de la nostre Raspberry mitjançant la seva API (la de Dynu).
He fet un programa amb #Python que puja la IP de la Raspberry fent ús d'aquesta API de Dynu {d}DNS:

@popefelix depending on your router you may be able to quickly set up a #vpn server on it that allows you to remote access your home lan. Make sure to use #ddns, if your router has integrated vpn it should also offer a ddns service.

Most routers using #openWrt and #fritzboxOS will work from my personal experience.

Estic programant un #wrapper fet amb #Python per a la #API de Dynu{d}DNS, un servei #DDNS dels molts que hi ha però que té certa solera.
Necessito programar aquest wrapper per a la #Raspberry, per a que pugui enviar automàticament la seva IP dinàmica a Dynu via la seva API.

Vale, le estoy dando vueltas a algo, pero creo que con #mac no se podría hacer, básicamente es como una ¿ #radio fantasma?. La idea es, desde mi propio ordenador, #emitir una radio que solo estará activa de forma puntual una hora al día, la ip seria la de mi maquina publica, usando #ddns y tendría que poner un software de #broadcast y #codec en mi ordenador... pero eso no tengo muy claro que se pueda hacer con #mac y #apple ¿me dais un impulso para ver si alguien me puedo orienta? gracias

#openWrt helped unlock my router into something half useful, but its UI is not exactly a polished tool.

Take #ddns for example

The UI -> CLI -> Curl translation for dynamic DNS to namecheap asks me to put my hostname in... * checks notes * ... The username field.

Hours of trying different configs and it still doesn't work. I guess I'll have to debug/config at the CLI level.

Documentation and forum posts are scarce, and written in a very toxic tone.
