I mean let's be honest, at least no one can say blind people are the only ones paying huge cash for their assistive technology. This is basically for the as far as pricing is concerned.

@SallyStrange @mzedp honestly? I get that’s it’s funny for hearing folks, but for D/deaf/Hard of Hearing folks who rely on captions, substituting different words for profanity is infantalizing and also confusing.

Otherwise I also liked the video

Okay, I need some recommendations from people who are still taking precautions or anyone with experience in the or community.

Starting next week, I'm doing a research project with a professor who's /hard of hearing. I don't know , so I need a good clear .

I would just ask him to mask, but I know the virus can hang around for hours.

Any suggestions are appreciated!

Are you ready to be amazed?

Alex has a couple of his LEGO kits he can do without any assistance. He decided yesterday to do one and asked me to grab the camera and record it so he could show everyone on YouTube how much fun it is to do Lego.

He did his own intro and outro! :)
It's 2 minutes that will warm your heart and start your week with a smile.

Note the sign language interpreter on the left. Great inclusion of the Swedes. Amazing how she translates the feeling of the song into signs.

Anyone else being driven mad by Amazon music? I don't want EVERY to listen to random music of Amazon's choosing, nor do I want to listen to fucking adverts. I want to listen to the music that I HAVE PAID FOR. There is a very simple reason for this. I hear everything through a cochlear implant and I cannot - without a great deal of hard work - listen to music that is new to me. My brain can't interpret it. Random music is just random noise to me and it's actually distressing.

"For children, teachers and scientists, talking about things like "greenhouse gases" or "carbon footprint" used to mean spelling out long, complex scientific terms, letter by letter. Now they are among 200 environmental science terms that have their own new official signs in British Sign Language . Deaf scientists behind hope the new vocabulary will allow deaf people to fully participate in discussions about "BBC

I have a question about subtitles and captions. In French, we said « sous-titres ». When we translate this word, it’s « subtitles » but a lot of people talk about captions. « Captions » in French is « légendes ». So, I’m confused. What is the right word to designate subtitles on videos ? Captions ? Subtitles ? Both ? Thank you !

Using different techniques, glasses have been developed that can in real time receive Bluetooth messages and transcribe them to augmented reality projections within the glasses. This enables deaf people to communicate and at the same time to be free to look wherever they like. See neat-news.com/2023/08/215.php.

Can someone explain to me why I apple let you connect Bluetooth hearing aids to iPhone and iPads, but not their laptops. It makes no sense. Why do I have to buy a shitty Bluetooth dongle for a machine that already has it? 🤷

Anyone know of a hack?

Deaf rappers who lay down rhymes in sign languages are changing what it means for music to be heard

Dip hop is one of many styles of rap that have developed over the years. But it stands apart from other subgenres of hip-hop because rappers lay down rhymes in sign languages and craft music informed by their cultural experiences within the community.
