Just finished book two of #DeathGateCycle. Didn't remember anything about this particular book (read it about 25 years ago), but it seems not to have aged as well. Or I'm just a more particular reader then I used to be. #SFF #FantasyBooks
Starter in #SlaughterhouseFive. Wow. Just wow.

It was a long time since I last read the #DeathgateCycle, and thoroughly enjoying book 1 #DragonWing. So many great plot twists and original ideas in the first 200 pages already.
I vaguely remember that the number of twists slow down after a while, but what a great ride this is going to be.

And then I was reading five #books. Maybe I should finish one of them soon. Before I get the urge to reread #WheelOfTime. Which is likely soon.
And maybe not the one that's part one of a seven part series. #DeathgateCycle #DragonWing
The others: #SlaughterhouseFive, #Quintilianus, a Dutch language philosophy primer and #MinistryForTheFuture.
Anybody can relate?

Found the #DeathGateCycle in my book case today, by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman.
Why not? Let's read it a third time.
Since January, I've really been enjoying the new audio versions of the #DeathGateCycle by Margaret Wies and Tracy Hickman.
I've been a big fan of their work since Dragonlance, but this series really hit the sweet spot for me back in the early 90s.
The narrator, Fajer Al-Kaisi has done a great job and has created the perfect Alfred voice.
I'm eagerly awaiting for the last book in the series to come out next week.

At 87% of The Seventh Gate, Death Gate Cycle - Zifnab just had the most hilarious comments about Godhood. #IYKYK #DeathGateCycle #fantasy #FantasyBooks

Finally beginning the last book of Weis/Hickman’s Death Gate Cycle, Book 7: The Seventh Gate. It’s been a long time coming - looking forward to this big finish! #DeathGateCycle #fantasy #fantasybooks

Finished "Into the Labyrinth", book 6 of the Death Gate Cycle - just 1 book to go. Everything becoming clearer - the initial books make more sense. I look forward to the big finish, but I've got a couple other books in progress to complete first. Soon! #DeathGateCycle #fantasy #fantasybooks

Even though I’m still reading two other books, I didn’t want to wait longer - I’ve begun Book 6 of The Death Gate Cycle, Into the Labyrinth. I do sort of want to know how this story is going to wrap up, so this and just one more book to go in the cycle. #fantasy #DeathGateCycle

The series is good, if oriented to younger audiences. For me the character of Haplo was easy to identify with; troubled, used as a weapon against others, untrusting, and so 'lost' as to not even know himself. The story follows his growth and letting go of rage/anger at both himself & others. There are obviously other characters, who are traumatized and flawed.. and who grow.

#DeathGateCycle #margaretweiss #tracyhickman I've read a lot of books in my life, but nothing as crucial to my being as the Death Gate Cycle series. It's not the most amazing story ever told, not the greatest epitome of writing, it is merely a series existing at the right time & place to allow me to hold on to my fractured self in the face of childhood trauma.

Finished reading Hand of Chaos, Death Gate Cycle #5. Actually leaves us at a bit of cliffhanger, something new for the series. 2 more books to go! This was definitely better than the four before it, but I find myself not as engaged as I get with more modern stuff, but also some of my other older favorites (like The Dragonriders of Pern). Still, I appreciate the various plot developments that are being brought through, as well as the better pacing of this book. #DeathGateCycle #fantasyfiction

Hand of Chaos, Death Gate Cycle #5, 83% in - great quote regarding the wisdom that comes of life experience. Interchange between two characters who met in book 1, and reunite in book 5:
“You’ve changed from what you were. When you first came, you were confident, in control.”
“I thought I was in control. I’ve learned a lot, since then.”
INDEED. We are never truly in control. Recognizing that is a step on the path of wisdom.

Death Gate Cycle Bk 5, The Hand of Chaos, 65% in: Many of the mysteries of this series have been revealed, or clearly hinted toward, with less than two and a half books to go. The one that still has me puzzled, and def curious, is the bit about the dog. If you’ve read the series, you know what I mean. If not, you might check it out. Old school fantasy. - BTW, I’m not asking for spoilers, just sharing my experience. 😜 #fantasy #DeathGateCycle #IYKYK

Anyone here remember The Death Gate Cycle, by Weis/Hickman? Pretty dated, but still classic fantasy fun. I’m on book 5 of 7. I don’t find it nearly as engaging as modern fantasy, or even other things I read back at that time, but it’s still in interesting tale. And I’m a completionist. Something has to be REALLY bad/lackluster for me to DNF it. #fantasy #DeathGateCycle
