Gibt es bei #debianedu eigentlich die Möglichkeit, #windows Applikationen zu starten? Bei uns gibt es viel #windowsonly #Branchensoftware ohne die es wohl nicht geht.

Um Linux schnell und einfach auszurollen, habe ich FAI (Fully Automatic Installation) per PXE (Netzwerkboot) verwendet.
Das kannst Du auch von einem USB-Stick aus verwenden oder Du machst einfach z.B. den Lehrer-PC zum FAI-"Server" ;)

FAI findet auch Verwendung bei Debian-Edu, bei Tuxedo, LiMux, ... und damit gehen auch Updates.

Ansonsten wäre auch noch Ansible für die Updates interessant und Du könntest mal bei #DebianEdu bzw. #Linuxmuster schauen. ;)

@debacle #DebianEdu hatte ich mir auch angeschaut und auch das geht ja mit FAI. 👍

Für mein Problem war es aber keine Lösung, weil es ja schon einen Windows Server gab. Ich wollte "nur" die Clients in das bestehende Netzwerk bestmöglich integrieren und kein Paralleles dazu aufbauen.

Sprich: Zugangsdaten, persönlicher Speicher, ... wollte ich nicht doppeln.

Warum benutzen #Schulen eigentlich #iPads und #Windows?
Weil dafür gibt es ja auf #FOSS-Alternativen.
Als Ersatz für die iPads und die Windows-PCs könnte man #debianedu nehmen, in Verbindung mit #AlekSIS.
Dann hat man erstens viel Digitalisiert, zweitens können Schüler daran mitarbeitein und drittens gehen dann keine #Daten an #Microsoft oder #Apple.

Finally, people can start testing the FAI based #DebianEdu installation: The package #debian-edu-fai has landed in #Debian unstable (and can be used to deploy Debian Edu stable and testing workstations).

The open bidding process for a municipality wide FLOSS IT solution for the schools in the city of #Magdeburg, Germany, has been retracted for now. The tender documents need to be reworked was the reason given and a follow-up open bidding will be placed soon. #FreieSoftwareGmbH (and #DebianEdu) will definitely take part in the next bidding round.

The city of #Magdeburg, Germany, has recently opened a public tender and has asked companies to hand in their biddings for a possibly 100% #OpenSource #school IT solution.
