So I fell for a scam text and now my has been compromised. I called the bamk and had them cancel it, but they said it would take 5–7 working days to issue me a new one.

Fortunately, I can apparently still withdraw from the bank, and my schedule gives me Friday off so I can go in while it's open.

This is to say that it would be a pretty bad idea to abolish cash altogether. Sometimes you don't have a card.

It would appear website will not accept a UK (tried two) or (tried from a third bank). Do we chance our luck going along in person with cash and hope they’re not sold out?

Third attempt at obtaining a replacement: from was due today at the latest (4-5 working days); but absolutely no surprise that it has not. Over a month without a payment-card. I could not buy Christmas food (nor any other food since), Christmas-cards, Christmas presents, nor post anything already purchased as no access to my cash!

It’s time to manage my debit and credit cards! I always make sure that at new year I replace all my cards. I don’t mean new accounts, just the physical card replacement, to get a new card number. This is especially important as during the year I may have:
1. Signed up for subscriptions I only want once, but the company has me on automatic renewal, even when I said no thanks, to what is for them but not me, a useful feature.
2. Added my card to payment services like car parking apps. These are vulnerable to data loss if they get hacked and I can’t trust them to secure my data properly, as I know through experience!
3. Shared my card details with staff when I bought stuff over the telephone. For example, a local restaurant. They tend to write the details down in a notebook and there the details stay for eternity.
I’m going to go through all my bank cards and request a replacement card for each of them.
My next job is to manage the CVV numbers. I store those in my password app for each card and then scratch the number off the physical card. I do this because I like to have my cards with me, in my phone holder, and if I ever lose it or have it stolen, I only then need to worry about the contactless limit. Of course, I could leave them at home and use Apple Pay, but that’s a different worry if the phone runs out of juice and I need to pay for something.
I could use virtual credit cards that the likes of Revolut offer, but I’ve read so many negative reviews of these types of services and providers, I don’t use them. Keep it simple.
