I saw joy when commemorating #Dec6 in solidarity with Indigenous women. There was actual joy, which opens the door to active and revolutionary love. And that’s where the revolution is—in acts of love. I saw it in front of me and as a Black woman I immediately recognized it
This year I cried all day what with all the fucko bucko horn honkers and border blockers and forced birther nut jobs and gun toting hockey players. And got reminded how, after the massacre, the idea was floated that the killer's gf had obtained an abortion he didn't support. #Dec6 #Femicide
Today in Canada is the anniversary of a horrible event. I was just starting high school with dreams of the science degree I would eventually get fresh in my mind when I heard about 14 women who were killed just because they were women studying engineering. I spoke with some excellent young men in my office today who said that they knew very little of it and that made me so angry and so sad. Their lives should be remembered loudly. #montrealmassacre #dec6

Everyone in Canada, but esp men/boys must learn abt & understand what happened on #Dec6 & the pervasive ways dehumanization+violence against women/femmes are perpetuated to today.
There's no excuse, even if you were born 2 yrs before/after it happened.
We all have responsibility.
December 6 is the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.

Oger: Yes, the men that overwhelmingly are the ones who go on hate- and rage- motivated killing sprees are responsible for their own actions.
Nevertheless, we are all accountable together for how we tolerate the cultivation of the hatred and supremacist ideology that motivates this - especially online.

Today I’m thinking of these bright young women - each of whom were preparing for bright futures ahead - murdered this day, 33 years ago, at school, in what is now recognized as an anti-feminist, misogynist mass murder. #MontrealMassacre #Dec6

#Dec6 14 women whose young lives were cut short on December 6, 1989 in Montreal, by a man who hated women for being women.
