Calverley Park #TunbridgeWells 1828-39 is a key moment in the development of the suburb designed by #DecimusBurton. Decimus? Yes, he was from a family that named children in Latin. It's of high interest as design (look at the chimneys here), more varied than Nash's Park Village East; in sandstone not stucco. And yet: something repulsive about it, design skill at service of a class seeing property as consumable ostentation, like the highly priced carriages they rode in. #architecture
