It’s always Dark, Darker, Darkest before the dawn… and after I see the results of my terrible dice-rolling, of course. Still in love with this horror-themed crawler, but it’s time to head to the Winchester until this whole thing blows over. #boardgames #deckof51 #horror
Yay or Caber-net? For me, it’s Vital I get to play my favourite Lacerda design every few weeks… Vinhos Deluxe. Wine not? #boardgames #deckof51
No Rurik-rolling here, just a three-player game of this excellent design from Stan Kordonskiy and Piecekeeper Games. I need to give the solo mode - and the expansion - far more attention soon. #boardgames #deckof51 #tabletop #gamenight

Concordia. Mac Gerdts without a rondel is just as good as Mac Gerdts with. Really loving this designer’s work. Keen to try Crossing Oceans soon. #boardgames #tabletop #deckof51 #gamenight

From our table to yours, Merry Christmas. And I hope your little monsters had a great time today. #boardgames #christmas #deckof51 #horrified

“If I am mad, it is mercy! May the gods pity the man who in his callousness can remain sane to the hideous end!” - H.P. Lovecraft, The Temple. Personally, I don’t feel games of Eldritch Horror drag on that long. #boardgames #lovecraft #deckof51 #tabletop

Fireteam Zero is a great Weird War Two dice-rolling, hand-managing, horror experience. Plays in an hour; always tense; rarely beaten. Such a shame it ran into distribution difficulties. It’s a great alternative to the similarly out-of-reach Gears of War. #boardgames #tabletop #dice #horror #deckof51

Tramways remains my favourite route-builder. Watertight gameplay, solo or against others. Multi-use cards and deck-building, accessible but crunchy gameplay; there’s so much to recommend this one. #boardgames #tabletop #tramways #deckof51 #game #cards

I’ve tried a few of the Leader series of games but, for me, Thunderbolt: Apache Leader still rules the skies… and the land and sea. Warfighter remains my favourite release from this company, but I’ll always have time to get to the chopper. #boardgames #deckof51 #WarGames

Tried a new-to-me Stefan Feld design earlier: Carpe Diem - which feels like a crunchy take on Carcassonne. Plays very quickly, but gives you plenty to ponder. I seized the day - and the most victory points - and would love to try it again soon. #boardgames #deckof51 #rome
A rune with a view… Runebound, third edition, which I now only play with the co-op conversion expansion. Always wanted to try second edition, but I won’t complain with this on the table. #boardgames #tabletop #gamenight #runebound #deckof51

In training for Tokyo: Metro again. It’s very tough to do well in this one, especially solo, but the cascading/evolving worker-placement spot market is a fabulous mechanism. #boardgames #tabletop #deckof51

My favourite thing about Gutenberg is the cog mechanism, whereby players install components on their board to improve the efficient of their engines. A nice art style and under-explored theme complete the package. I’ll be printing my review in the next few days. #boardgames #tabletop #gamenight #deckof51

So, here’s The Magnificent, from Aporta Games, and there’s also Love Letter, from AEG, but can you name any other board games where the title is its own review? #boardgames #tabletop #gamenight #review #deckof51

“It’s just an elder sign of the times, Miss Jones…” London Dread is a gorgeous and clever mystery adventure with players racing against the clock to solve a central conceit. Played against a timer, it’s fair to say it’s not good for stress levels. #boardgames #deckof51 #tabletop

“Look at those snappers, Ralph…” Had a pharaoh time teaching Faiyum to a pal this evening - well enough for them to beat me 145-141. Best scores I’ve seen in the game yet. Great fun. #boardgames #tabletop #deckof51 #faiyum
