Happy birthday to my first book baby! "Clutter: An Untidy History" made its debut on 9/1/20. Three years and three editions later, it's earned out its advance and is still finding readers. I hope it won't be an only child too much longer, but I sure am grateful for it. Did a bit more decluttering. Then I lost steam. But the dining room looks slightly better than before.

I think I need to do some clearing out in other spots before I can finish the dining room.

I also really need to tackle the basement but I will probably do the other sections of the house and then have a brief pause before attempting that.

Oh, fwiw, I think we are still solidly in the apocalypse. It’s just lasted long enough that the first wave Mucinex and Tylenol expiration dates have passed

Also had to pull out the big boxes of masks again. Because in-person, indoor, mask “optional” school faculty meetings start next week. So my colleagues can resume asking me if I’m still masking while I am standing there wearing one. Fun!

At least these boxes don’t need lids. Silver lining

We have a tiny linen/toiletry closet. After purging apocalypse supplies we got in March ‘20, I put out the nice baskets I’d gotten to organize stuff

Spouse: these don’t have lids
Me: we don’t need lids, just put things in neatly
Spouse: no, you throw things in & put lids on
Me: no, then it takes too long to find things

An hour later, the baskets have labels (my win) but are up a shelf so the toss method is allowed (his win). Exhausted
