First tip: Consider changing the default post visibility to public (you'll see a globe instead of an open psdlock), when your making s public post.

Alternatively, get into the habit of manually doing so with each public post.

Otherwise, your coverage is limited (not displayed in average people's streams) and your reach is severely attenuated.
