@garyshaff How does it make sense, under a #climateEmergency declaration, to prioritize the pavement maintenance of multiple redundant car lanes over the usability of bikes and transit? The existing funding is creating the problem, so it's simply absurd to try to fix it with more funding without changing the carway layout. Our miles-traveled is flat because we haven't added or removed car lanes, to get #VMTreduction we have to cut back on car subsidies. I'm already at #DefundDOTs and #BanCars.

Exactly. It's not just the process but also the designs are by and for #carSupremacy. New concrete bikeways aren't wide enough to meet demand, let alone #ClimateAction goals. They need to be operating a working prototype NETWORK, #tacticalUrbanism, not designing a permanent monument. Then ask people who are actually using it, or even just observe, and adjust. Maybe they can change, but I've said all this for a decade, and now I'm at #DefundDOTs until I see it.

#PBOT spent $26M on this SINGLE MILE of street, to widen the shoulders into a substandard sidewalk / bikeway combination, while designing a 24ft carway through the middle of what they sold as an "active transportation" project.

I have been (trying to gently) reminding people to say "hit *with* car" instead of "by", to encourage everyone to think about #trafficViolence in terms of policy solutions instead of victim-blaming or car-blaming. It occurred to me that now I'm reflexively wanting to remind folks to say "killed with police" instead of by, for the same reason.
