โTalk is cheapโ also valid for #deglobalisation
@Bruegel_org talks about why #globalisation might be stickier than it seems

Good article @EuroBriefing@twitter.com on #deglobalisation, waning influence of macroeconomists - problem is that their place has been taken over by military & geopolitical security think tanks - #neoimperialism is not the answer to our social-ecological crisis

Are we ready for the financial crash of 2023? This article by @gailtheactuary@twitter.com thinks we should #energydescent #deglobalisation
RT @gailtheactuary@twitter.com
If the world economy experiences major financial turbulence in 2023, we could be in for a rough ride. In my opinion, a major financial crash seems likely. This is could upset the economy far more seriously than the 2008 crash. https://ourfiniteworld.com/2023/01/09/__trashed/

Another emergent shift in 2022 has been the slow (and quiet) pivot away from #China in the organisation of many #manufacturing #supplychains - driven by (more immediate) concerns about China's management of #coronavirus and (longer term) structural concerns that China may be decoupling from the global system (in a parallel development to #Russia); reports over the year @financialtimes suggest 'reshoring' and moves to more proximate countries are under way... a shift to #deglobalisation?

@shengokai That's the way it is.
Large amount of fediversians believe separation, protective private spaces, localised disconnected groups, well-separated opinion bubbles are the PURPOSE of the fediverse and not a design failure.
People coming from outside where everyone could (and often do) talk to any other person freely have hard time to understand why #deglobalisation is a good thing. Maybe that's one of the main conflict points here.
As usual, I disagree with #The_Guardian editorial. As usual, Guardian writes as if #Anglophone zones were the whole planet. As usual, I remind Guardian it is not.
World pushes back N. American corporations no longer tolerated (#MacDonalds, #Starbucks, #Facebook/Meta, #Google etc) But this is not #deglobalisation. What has happened is the rise of #Chinese brands and a Chinese-led globalisation (#TikTok, #Huawei, #Alibaba etc)
I fear Chinese globalisation will be even worse.
