The Airco DH.4 is another favourite type of mine and I always love seeing this example fly - the engine has such a nice sound to it, the best way I can describe the tone is “big”!

It would be amazing to see one fly with a .

Women seen fitting out the fuselage of a DH Mosquito. It is safe to say that without a strong effort by the female workforce of Great Britain, Canada and Australia, the De Havilland Mosquito would not have become the war-winning aircraft that it did. Women undertook highly skilled work in the manufacturing sector, maintained the aircraft wearing uniform, and delivered the planes to the frontline in Europe, as members of the Air Transport Auxiliary. The port and starboard fuselage shells will soon be mated together, and the build completed.

A good view of a navigator at the bombsight of a De Havilland Mosquito. The mosquito was initially proposed to the Royal Air Force as an unarmed, extremely fast, twin-engined bomber. It went on to also serve as a fighter, nightfighter, fighter-bomber, photoreconnaissance aircraft, target tug, naval strike aircraft, trainer, fast courier aircraft and more. The are no flying examples in Europe, but The People's Mosquito (a Registered Charity) is currently restoring one to flight status - see www.peoplesmosquito.org.uk for details. ,

This wartime photograph shows a number of DH Mosquito B. Mk IV lined up, prior to a daylight raid on an enemy target in Europe. The B.Mk. IV was the first bomber version of the Mosquito to enter service with the Royal Air Force, and these aircraft are from No. 139 Squadron, RAF, the second unit to be equipped with the Mosquito bomber. Initially used on daring daylight raids, the bomber versions of the Mosquito had no defensive armament, and relied on sheer speed to evade enemy fighters. The People's Mosquito is restoring a fighter-bomber version of the famed Mosquito in the UK.

This DH87B Hornet Moth, a civilian aircraft, was 'impressed' by the Royal Air Force at the start of WW2. Such machines were used as light transports, trainers and communications aircraft. This handsome Hornet Moth has yellow undersides, therefore it's a 'second line' machine.

The De Havilland Heron could be described as a stretched, four-engined 'big brother' of the DH Dove. They were used as 'feeder liners' between hub airports and as corporate transports. This example (a Heron 2D) is in the colours of Rolls-Royce and is preserved at the De Havilland Aircraft Museum, at South Mimms, UK ,

in 1940 : the first flight of the Mosquito. One of the finest aircraft designs in history and the most versatile aircraft of WW2. The Wooden Wonder was used as a day / night fighter / bomber, recon, transport, tug, ... and even operated from carriers.
