@gardening my first candystick delicata squash is almost ready! Don’t worry, I’m planning on leaving them all on the vine until frost, but this little dude has started ripening for sure. I’ve got loads of candysticks coming along!
Thumb for scale with the biggest of my leeks. It’s at least 20% larger than average, but the rest are pretty uniform, so I think they’re probably ok.
I really don’t see how to hill them without getting dirt in the leaves. When I transplanted the seedlings, I was really careful to bury them as deeply as possible, and I guess it worked. They’ve all gotten taller but only from above the first leaf, if that makes sense? One time in the late 90s I made potato soup with leeks, but that’s the extent of my experience with them 😅 Love it when the “I wonder what I’ll do with all this” crops thrive!
