To demonstrate just how hard he said the test really was, he went on TV to recite, over & over, the words that he had been asked to remember in the right order: “Person. Woman. Man. Camera. TV.”

…The is meant to test for signs of , ’s disease or other conditions, but the talked about it on Fox News… as if he had aced an IQ test proving his intelligence. Experts said that reflected a misunderstanding about the purpose & value of the exam.

Presidents & those who would be president often boast of their qualifications — their education, their experience, their achievements. And then there is President , who is boasting about his test.

Mom's first words this morning: Where are we?
Leading to a long reorientation session.
She accepts the information but doesn't have any personal knowledge of most facts of her life.
She saays:
I don't know what I think
I don't know where I am
I don't know where I'm going
I don't know where I've been

(Quick, hand me a guitar!)

There's no alarm or distress, just wonder at having no memory of the past or grip on the present.

Oh, antipsychotics of power,
How are you used so often this hour?
Though meant for your use
You're being abused
To ease the pain of dementia's shower

Kun ikää on 70+, niin erilaiset dementian torjumiskeinot kiinnostavat. Sanaristikoiden lisäksi olen ottanut työkalupakkiin myös värityskirjat :-)

@Nature Higher levels of a type of called PM2.5 were linked to more cases over time. The strongest links were seen for PM2.5 from agriculture and wildfires. Reducing such exposures might help lower the incidence of dementia.

is a loss of thinking, remembering, and reasoning skills. It’s not a normal part of aging. But the risk of developing dementia grows as people get older. Millions of Americans, along with their families and caregivers, are living with the effects of dementia. This number is expected to continue to grow as the population ages.

You'd have to be a fool to intentionally plan to develop or

You'd have to be cruel to intentionally harm children

You'd have to be ignorant to *want* to tobacco

You'd have to be ignorant to want to inhale traffic & wood smoke air pollution.

And yet, many people do want to smoke & do want to own combustion engine vehicles & wood stoves

When people are not acting in their own best interests, we need to ask who is misinforming them?

Older adults who regularly use the internet have half the risk of dementia compared to non-regular users

'Participants using the internet between 6 minutes and 2 hours per day had the lowest risk of dementia'

Oh! What about those of us who *don't* use it for 2 hours a day?!

A qualitative study of practices that exceed expectation

Great insights from Prof. Ann Dadich & Team

"Brilliant aged care occurs when primacy is awarded to an older person's well being; their changing needs and preferences are accommodated; and—rather than encourage dependence on others—older people are enabled to maintain their identity, autonomy, agency & dignity."
