#Dementia is a global problem. Over 50 million people worldwide currently live with dementia. This number is projected to increase to over 150 million by the year 2050.

It is one of the leading causes of disability and dependency among the older #population worldwide.

Although it is a global issue, low and middle-income countries are disproportionately affected. These countries are home to approximately 60% of dementia patients, and this figure is expected to rise to 71% by 2050. It also has a disproportionate impact on #women, besides the #labor of #caregiving.

We believe that dementia and cognitive decline are normal parts of #aging, but they are NOT.

Currently, there is no cure for dementia. Risk reduction is the best method that we have to address the projected prevalence and incidence of dementia with population #ageing.

There are many online resources to build your knowledge of the major risk factors for dementia and to learn about the #interventions and various initiatives for the #prevention of cognitive impairment.
