I don't know if it's "me" or "bad mental health me". But right now I can't have sex with unknown people. Doesn't matter if I want to. My body won't feel attraction and it won't be good.

And it sucks.
I want to participate in gay hookup culture but the idea of actually participating makes my skin crawl.

I just read this book "The Cybernetic Tea Café" because I found it on some recommended reading list for asexuals... And I really liked it! Great read, very short too. Can knock it out in one sitting if you try. I don't know what it is about it, but it really was a nice read that struck a chord in me. Might be some of the shit I'm going thru personally, or that I haven't read any interesting books as of late, but I digress

@criquaer Awesome, thank you for sharing. It shows very good how broad the spectrum of #demisexuality really is. I am on the emotional bond side of things which also means that for me, friends with benefits is something I can't even imagine how it works. I respect it, of course, but every time someone explains it I am like a C++ parser which is fed a LUA script.😂

I’ve more recently started using #demisexual for myself as well, after jokingly saying I was demi-demisexual for a couple of years. One of the reasons I’ve struggled with it, is the association with sex repulsion, which never described my experience. When and with who I want sex had always seemed murky to me—until I started considering it through the framework of #demisexuality . And now it makes sense to me.

@animo i think #demisexuality has been a quite authoritative social norm for some decades and it's liability is decreasing in the last years.

And that it's used as an identity nowadays (instead of talking about a norm or a behavioral pattern) is typical for a modern view on people: sexuality is supposed to be the essence of subjectivity, so they all want one :mastoblush:

Clicking through and refining my hashtags to find out what's out there. Not much on #demisexuality. Came across the word on the Aviary, thought "New word! 'Demi-' means 'half"... And found that I was reading about myself. I.e. the split attraction model covers my psycho-sexuality as much as anything. 'Tis also in keeping with my being an Autistic, although there are of course other flavors.
