I’m really honoured to be part of the group and represented them at both #DublinPride and #TransAndIntersexPride this year.

It’s a really amazing and fun experience and we do it to show support for trans kids and their families who are under attack at the moment.

Rare day sans kids so headed to #Derry by myself. Reflecting on how much has changed since I first came here alone almost 17 years ago. That where I stood to take this picture was still at that point a barracks (although the soldiers had by then moved out). And wondering why I am always drawn towards this city at the far edge of our nation. #northernireland

The Battle of the Bogside took place from 12 to 14 August 1969 in Derry. As the annual Apprentice Boys parade passed close to the Bogside area serious rioting erupted. The RUC, using armoured cars and water cannons, entered the Bogside, in an attempt to end the rioting. The RUC were closely followed and supported by a loyalist crowd. 1/2

On the 31 July 1972 Operation Motorman began. The British Army invaded No-Go areas sending 21,000 soldiers, with tanks and bulldozers, into working-class nationalist areas across the north including Free Derry. The IRA, aware that they weren’t ready for a pitched battle with such a force, had left the No Go areas, so no real resistance was offered. 1/2

She was so iconic. Designed her own fashion label to raise money to fly. She was descended from Derry people so it's all the better that she landed in Gallagher's field having completed the first solo Transatlantic flight by a woman.

Here’s a #postcard showing #Magee College. This was established in #Derry / #Londonderry in 1865 as a Presbyterian College teaching theology and arts, and has been secular since 1953. Associated over the years with many of Ireland’s universities, in 1969 it became part of the New University of Ulster, which in 1984 became #UlsterUniversity

🧵On our final day, just after leaving our hotel, we went via #WildIreland just outside #derry It is a relatively new animal experience. We were last there in 2020, and a great deal has changed. New signage, and it’s really good, upgraded pathways, new animals and birds also; and an Ice Age section is being built. We didn’t see all of it because the weather got really wet and miserable.

#Derry is a fantastic city - I love the place. I hadn't been up there myself in quite sometime until last year. The train journey up from Belfast is some of the most beautiful coast line you will see.
