In de NRC verscheen dit interessante artikel over het panpsychisme, ofwel: 'de overtuiging dat bewustzijn geen verschijnsel is dat pas laat (of ‘hoog’) in de evolutie is ontstaan, maar een fundamentele eigenschap van de gehele werkelijkheid.'

217 followers · 298 posts · Server zirk.us“Lucy’s Demon” is an idea I have been playing with to reference human programer’s working on early stages of #AI, with the same abilities as #Descartes Demon, only with the added questions that come up when the demon controls stimuli and perception. This has another layer when other humans then trust the AI to #augment their reality and the programmers become a shared demon.
Lucy refers to the our fossil ancestor.
I think it is fun idea and just wanted to share it with you.

Did you know that the #Vikings made lenses in a #quality that was not achieved again until the mid-20th c.?
The aspheric lenses were found in #Gotland. They are made of #quartz & were probably used to magnify filigree work, to read, or to make fires.
The #math required to make these lenses wasn’t available until #Descartes in 1637.
The first #lens is dated to ~1050.
This means that they have been made by trial and error, likely creating a (or very few) masters of the #craft.
