A friend from #Sketch, Hugo Gomes, has been working on a new product, #Lottielab, which is a web app to create 2D designs and animations in the #Lottie format (which is #OpenSource and #PlatformIndependent.

Ça fait désormais quelques semaines que je suis passé sur #Linux Mint, et je ressens toujours pas le besoin d’aller sur ma partition Windows, la surprise est très agréable 👌Par contre l’offre de logiciels pour #designers est plus que tristoune, je sens que ça va vite être problématique quand je vais me remettre sur mon portfolio (et qu’on me lance pas sur le sujet The Gimp, je veux rester poli)

Well, no, the simple fact that #designers need to ask it to a chatbot is enough to prove that #design is a practice and a discipline with poor understanding of reality and a self-aggrandising idea of itself. In its current form, design is an industrial, capitalist, neoliberal practice that serves the brief commissioned by the 1%. And apparently, designers don't even understand the design of AI.

#Designers of Mastodon: what's your stance on device mock-ups when showing UI work? 🤔

I know that they're supposed to provide context, but to me they always felt superfluous and distracting. 🤔 I prefer showing just the UI itself, but obviously that also makes it harder to present it in a flashy way (which may be a good thing actually).

I have a question. As #designers, I would like to know how you implement or use artificial intelligent #AI #tools or resources to make your #design process more efficient.

There are always words I trip up on when I read them too fast.

Clint, & Flick Brick and you know exactly what I read when you have dyslexia, and this is why it’s so important to go slowly and also the importance of having dyslexia friendly fonts in all apps especially in the sign up process or at least an choice in turning them on or off.

It’s not difficult people, get your act together!

5/ #Instagram: A little side note about Instagram. I got into Instagram because one of my children was posting in there, and their feed was mostly about art. So I decided to make Instagram all about art.

I follow #designers, #painters, #sculptors, #BalletDancers, #MixedMediaArtists, #GlassBlowers, etc. etc. etc. I follow many of the local artists in my area as well. Eventually I also added some #zoos so I could see cute animals too.

So Instagram for me is one long feed of visual pleasure. Sometimes once I’ve gotten to know an artist, I treat myself with buying some of their work because I feel that connected. And I share the cute animals with my kids.

Instagram is more clever about serving me ads than other sites, so I do admit that sometimes they hit the nail on the head. For instance, they cottoned onto how much I’m into rainbows, and I got many many ads with products I loved featuring the spectrum. Got some great sneakers! So Instagram is better at selling to me personally, and I don’t mind it that much. It feels like they care. And I’m often supporting small businesses, which I feel okay about. (Although you always have to be mindful of scams.)

Pro tip for #designers: if someone gives you a screenshot of the text they want in a piece, don’t retype it. That’s not your job and you will become responsible for typos. Bring it into Preview on the Mac so you can copy and paste the text out. #graphicdesign
