Why do #users prefer certain #designs? According to #psychologists, humans have evolved to emotionally prefer #landscapes that allow them to gather knowledge from their environment.

This idea led evolutionary psychologists Stephen and Rachel Kaplan to propose, "Humans prefer landscapes that provide the most useful #information for their survival."

These preferences can be developed through two #cognitive functions: #understanding and #exploration.
