The caster can use part of their action to unleash the paradox dice and roll them for a Paradox Effect.

Why use action? Because it means the player must choose between accumulating more paradox or be less effective in the round to suffer a lesser effect.

I kinda like this system because it means a game could see some extended spell slinging action 😁👍🧙‍♀️

(Will work on it some more though)

As much as I'd like the Nox Engine to include a modular magic system, I just don't think I can manage it without making it too complicated, so I think I'll have to scrap and start over

Or specifically, set the previous aside in case I want to use it later 😅

Anyway, I think I will base the new magic system on Control and give it a sort of health-like system

I think I've taken the way further into the realm of complicated than I was planning 😬

Crunch can be great fun at times though, but I think the mechanics need a little trimming

...just a little

Hey folks; The latest episode of the RPG Design Panelcast is now out! This episode, recorded at Metatopia Online 2021, is titled "Details for the Devil", presented by Richard Ruane, @thedovetailor, @goatmansgoblet and @Zedeksiew ! It's an excellent episode with a lot of talk about deeper issues of colonialism and cultural contexts for micro-settings. Dig in!

Looked through one of the games I never published to see if it's something I can work with, maybe complete, and then perhaps release into the wild world of

I think I had something there. The mechanics are pretty functional and complete, at least pre-playtest complete, but the setting is severely lacking

Some of the text needs to be rephrased, but I could alter this to function as a decent game, I think
