📢 Exciting status update! 🚀 Sam Thursfield has been working on the #libgnomesearch library, aiming to consolidate search code in Nautilus, GTK, GNOME Shell, and other core apps. This project holds great potential for improving GNOME's desktop search functionality and facilitating prototype implementation. While still a work in progress with a few bugs, Sam has made progress with coding, documentation, and a demo app. Check out here: https://samthursfield.wordpress.com/2023/07/18/status-update-18-07-23/ #GNOME #DesktopSearch #OpenSource

The #Linux Desktop has some great #FOSS #DesktopSearch apps I use almost daily
- fsearch: blazing fast searching for filenames with a simple GUI, I use it for local filesystem searches (regex + wildcard search is supported)
https://github.com/cboxdoerfer/fsearch
- recoll: full text index tool with advanced GUI that really lets you deepdive into your files. I used it to query my (Cloud Synced) Document locations

Both apps should be provided by your OS package manager #TryBeforeYouDie

Our early spring #updates are here. #DEVONagent 3.11.7 brings integration with @Neeva@twitter.com, the @caselawaccess@twitter.com, and @IEEEXplore@twitter.com. Its scripts and scanners also retrieves more image formats, and the See Also inspector makes better suggestions. #DEVONsphere 1.9.7 suggests related websites and adds thumbnails to web search results more reliably. #update #research #webresearch #search #desktopsearch #searchengines #mac https://www.devontechnologies.com/blog/20230301-spring-updates-devonagent-devonsphere?utm_content=bufferae53c&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer
