Pro-tip: if you install a desktop environment, xserver-display-xorg-dummy-driver and create a xorg.conf file for a dummy display, you can use sunshine streaming (with the moonlight client) on any server / VM for a smooth remote desktop even with software encoding.

Performance might depend on CPU power of course, but you can give it a try.
