I was going to bake some #AncientRoman #desserts for #Saturnalia (Io! Io!), but I lost a dental filling last week, and I can't get it fixed until Dec 22.
So, here is a Dulcia Piperata that I made last year. It is a spice cake, made with honey and olive oil, and a lot of black pepper.
It made me think of a primitive gingerbread (but Rome didn't get ginger until the 1st century or so).
It was good, but not great, so I don't think I'll make it again.
