It's impossible to watch #DetectiveAnna, the Russian period mystery series, without picking up the word дух ("dukh"), meaning spirit.

My brain just clicked that it is, of course the "Dukh" in "Doukhobor" (духоборы), meaning "spirit wrestlers," the name of the Christian pacifist enthnoreligous group that fled Russia at the turn of the last century with the aid of Tolstoy and emigrated to Canada.
