Since the war in #Ukraine ramped up last year I have been drawn more towards the concept of #nuclear #deterrence.
But let's be honest, the longer we keep #nuclearweapons around and the more we have of them, the higher the chance of blowing up the planet. Not neccesarily due to actual war but by accident or mishap 🤯☢️💀

It's not as if Russia wan't a signatory party either, so I don't blame a Post-War Ukraine if they want nuclear deterrence, since #Putin made it clear that this seems justifyable as #deterrence against an #invasion.

Re #deterrence, the clip reflects the position #Japan finds itself regarding whether the US would really deploy the nuclear "umbrella" if ever the archipelago was attacked/invaded. Robert Kelly (Pusan Nat'l Univ.) pointed out "Britain and France were incredulous enough that the United States would sacrifice “New York for Paris” that they built their own nuclear weapons"...which just transfers the hot potato problem closer to home.🙄
