The manuscript for "Entertaining German Culture? German Cultural History and Contemporary Transnational Television and Film'" edited by Stephan Ehrig @threecastlesburning, Ben Schaper, and me has now been submitted to Berghahn Books and will be in print next year!

It's fully open access so will be free to download and it explores recent trends in German streaming series, TV, and film. Series explored include #Dark, #Charité, and #Deutschland83.

Just finished Deutchland 86, 2nd season of #Deutschland83. Not as good as the 1st but still enjoyable. Like superheroes movies it requires some suspension of disbelief to make it work. Worth it because of the period vibe

Enjoyed #Deutschland83. Half spy story, half soap opera, half historical reconstruction. Yes that's 3 halves, sue me. Some plot holes but acceptable for the sake of moving the story along. High production values.

A reminder of where #Germany's pacifism, which seems idiotic in the face of Putin's aggreession comes from - from the 70s to the 80s they had nukes from both sides aimed at them.

I really want to love #Deutschland83 but the plotting is pretty shaky. It's flawed, but still great TV. Similar to Engrenages in many ways.
