#Seriously.
Just had an #interaction with someone I've #tooted back at previously at least a few times.
Apparently my light-hearted joke was taken as a potential attack.
Why? #WHY? Why? Why is it that we have #allowed ourselves , and by ourselves I mean almost #EVERYONE on the #internet to #devolve so far into digital "Cabin Fever" that a light-hearted joke is seen as a possible #attack?
When did we decide that being ready for the VERY low fucking percentage of #people who actually wish to do us harm means CREATING MORE #ANIMOSITY by not being open to a simple hello?
Another example of this...
Before #Christmas at an Outlet Mall I was walking with my #family into a #store, and saw a #cute #gay #couple walking to a different store. They crossed in front of us.
One of the couple was wearing some really cute/cool dangle X-Mas #earrings. I may have been staring, but only because the earrings looked cool to me. I could feel them #tense up and "hide" from me looking. As they crossed close enough, I said, "Cool earrings!" to them, loud enough that they could hear it.
They turned around a few seconds later and said, "Thanks!".
Their initial instinct was to #assume I was #staring out of #hatred.
Why?
Yes, there's #precedent, but hiding yourself away from the vast majority of people who will take you as you are, and even #PUSHING them #AWAY only makes it seem worse than it really is.
They WERE cool earrings (and I wanted to see them in more detail!)
There WAS an option missing on that poll (and I was injecting humor regarding that missing option!)
If you push the #good people away, you will only have the #assholes left to deal with, which self-fulfills your view that everyone's out to get you - and we're not.
Fucking stop it.

Of course this #contradicts my last post about mini-#fiefdoms and the #moderators ability to singularly #restrict any #ideas they arbitrarily feel are wrong. Instead of one #Musk, we've #empowered a million mini-Musks. And once again this demonstrates the #Internets almost innate ability to #devolve #consensus. 2/3
