One of the moths of the summer. Jersey Tiger (Euplagia quadripunctaria) spotted by my eagle-eyed daughter on the Southwest Coastal Path near Berry Head in

One of my favourites as it was pictured on the front cover of the Observer Book of Larger Moths I had as a kid.

Work on our regiment tour continues, and it feels appropriate today to share this photo of Devonshire from circa 1920. As you can see, the Cross of Sacrifice has been erected but the original grave markers are yet to be replaced. This pic also gives a clear view of the land over which the advanced on 1st day of the Battle of the and just how exposed they were. @militaryhistory

Sharing stories of the regiment on the ahead of my virtual tour on 27th Nov. Love this photo of Captain Duncan Lenox Martin, who famously made a plasticine model of the area around Mansel Copse to show just how exposed his men would be to MG fire. Martin was proved tragically right, as he was killed along with many men from 9th Devons early on 1st July in the ‘Danger Zone’ he had identified. @histodons
