Been to two #gigs the last couple of nights. Glasgow yesterday for #Dexys, The Feminine Divine tour. Seen them 7 times previously and they are always a class act. Small five piece band, probably some computer trickery going on to fill out the sound. New album in entirety then some of their well known material. It is a 3k venue that they nearly filled but the size of the band made it difficult at times to project the power of the songs adequately. Otherwise it was really good

Got to say that the new #dexys #vinyl is absolutely brilliant. Side one has the more dance songs almost a call back to their early days. Side two is however where the slow sexual jams happen. #kevinrowland really diving deep into himself. Love it

New #dexys album #np #vinyl #vinylrecords side 1 is northern soul time and will no doubt sound great live. Side 2 is Rowland revealing his appreciation of women within a series of funky, sensual songs. A really fine album that stands up within their rich canon of work. My only disappointment is the use of programming rather than drums. Recommended 9/10

it seems i've spent the day unwittingly working my way through the '1001 albums you must hear before you die'. can't believe people think dexys peaked with 'come on eileen'. 'don't stand me down' is a subtle chef d'oeuvre.
