Holy hell! What's scarier than what happened is how many people don't have a clue about #diabetes. Many of those comments are just frightening.

I was chatting here with someone today and they asked me about being #diabetic They said that they imagine it's difficult to live with #diabetes, unlike the commercials try to make you believe, that you pop a pill each day and you're just fine.

I woke with a blood glucose of 114. Pretty good.

I had to make a taffy apple salad before I could eat something. Thing is filled with sugars.

I didn't even taste it. Just my hands in the mixture and my #dexcom high BG went off at 220. Yikes! I better not have any

Anyone else having issues after the #dexcom 6 update? If my phone isn't plugged in, or is at least 90% charged, when an alarm goes off, the phone shuts down.

@ezaquarii I agree it is small, but it is about 8300 families who can avoid grief. You have to also keep in mind the health and cost savings with the 37m fewer accidents.

Otherwise, I agree, we should work on the other health issues that you mention. Right now in my family alone, we have two of the ones you list. I for one am #diabetic

One joy of being #diabetic is that it forces you to try alternative foods. I like my spicy food, which often comes with white rice. White rice is of course the spawn of the devil. So with that in mind, I have to look for alternatives. Enter, bird seed. When I was a boy I fed my pet birds millet. Today, I find myself realising exactly how boring they must have found it. Poor things...

I find myself now leading a pure life. Free of satanic foods (almost).

@aby Hello, I just saw this. I can recommend low carb crisp breads with cheese. Also some yoghurts are really good and keeping sugar low e.g. plain Greek.

When people find out I’m an anarchist, a question I frequently get is “how would people with chronic illnesses like diabetes access treatment under anarchism?”

There are a lot of unspoken assumptions packed into that question that I thought I’d explore a bit.

The first is, of course, that people with chronic illnesses *can* access treatment in the context of capitalist modernity. Not everyone can! Many people in the world of states and capital suffer and die from lack of access to treatment.

Not because the treatment is unavailable, but because access is mediated through capitalist gatekeeping. People, today, right now, in allegedly rich countries, die because they cannot afford insulin. For them, the question of “but how would we access insulin under anarchism” is moot. Many others access it only at the cost of medical debt and other forms of indenture.

Sigh. The joys of being #diabetic. I’ve been on the G7 #cgm but moving to the G6 cause my insulin pump doesn’t work with the G7 (and why is that?). My last G7 sensor has failed. The one G6 sensor I have did not come with an applicator. Called my pharmacy and they’re going to refill my G6 script early and be sure to include an applicator but as of right now I’m off the CGM. :( #diabetes #type1diabetes

Went to the grocery store the other week and my roommate was looking at the ice cream. This is something I generally can't eat because I'm diabetic, BUT my roommate found No Sugar Added ice cream with only a small amount of sugar in it. It's delicious! The brand is Hiland if anyone is wondering. #diabetic #diabetes

I’ve been Type II #diabetic for about 5 years; I gotta ask when are you supposed to change the needle on your insulin? I got a whole box of them but the first one out of the box seems to be holding up pretty well. 🤷🏻‍♂️
