Even though the sector has been cleaned up🧹 quite a bit over the past year, which was highly necessary in our opinion, we expect it to flourish again in the coming years🌤️

Last year taught us SelfCustody is most important, so instead of trusting Centralized Exchanges (CEX) with your funds & Data, Decentralized Exchanges (DEX) will do really well.

Look out for AMM (automated market makers), especially if they implement their own Orderbook

AMMs by the way are decentralized exchanges where Users' liquidity is pooled.
Assets within the pool are priced using algorithms. The specific mechanics vary by exchange. AMMs provide deep liquidity, low transaction fees & 100% reliability for as many users as possible.

Also Collateralized Stablecoins, FIAT 💵💶on/off ramps & projects that explore interactions between social media, reputation & decentralized identities () will gain traction.

Think of Ethereum Name Service applications (ENS),Proof of Attendance Protocols () or Lens Protocol applications.

POAPs by the way are granted to participants in events, courses, activities. It is like a badge of honor 🏅or recognition for being present/participating.

🧱is another key concept for blockchains to scale. The modular structure of these blockchains will allow them to more efficiently add new features & protocols. Modular blockchains focus only on specific tasks (consensus, execution, data availability & settlement) & offload the rest to other layers.

Examples:
arbitrum; zksync (execution)
sui; cosmos; Aptos_Network (settlement/consensus)
CelestiaOrg; eigenlayer (data availability)

Last in this thread are
(Soul Bound Tokens) that represent your real untransferable ID on-chain.
Although we expect growth in that segment we are holding back.
SBTs can include medical records, work/education history or any type of info that makes up a person/entity. The reason why we are holding back is that reputation-based communities could devolve into a social credit system in which people with higher ratings receive greater privileges while others are barred.

This raises ethical concerns and denies people the opportunity to grow.

Self Sovereign Internet idea of Phil Windley

The Internet was born without identity and permission layer as same as persistence. So and blockchains try to solve this in their way. What could offer here?

We lift transport protocols like to give standard messaging protocols that have security and identity based on

Instead of IPs we use peer-to-peer dids for every interaction with others via encrypted messages

These are the laws and technologies that transform network effects from a tool for openness – where even the largest, most vicious corporations must seek to pervert, rather than ignore, standards – into a tool for enclosure, where we are all under mounting pressure to move inside a walled garden." ⟩

This piece by @pluralistic is so worth the read to understand much of the and market dynamics that play out within and between standards development organizations and vendor dominated foundations that seek to produce standards.

pluralistic.net/2022/12/23/sem

I particularly loved this part:

⟨ " The Fediverse's foundation is a standard called ActivityPub, which was designed by weirdos who wanted to make a durably open, interoperable substrate that could support nearly any application. This was something that large corporations were both uninterested in building and which they arrogantly dismissed as a pipe dream. This means that Activitypub is actually as good as its architects could make it, free from boobytraps laid by scheming monopolists. " ⟩

.. which was the point I was trying to make @ infosec.exchange/@aniltj/10953 to ensure support for and existence of organizations where such work on the "Internet Commons" can take place!

I would also note that in the early part of the work on and , we had the same type of dismissal taking place -- Though now, we have moved into the phase were many who were dismissive are seeking to embrace, extend and appropriate!

I really don’t think vaccine passports are dystopian enough. What we really need, to be able to participate in society, is passports, masks, and PoAS (proof-of-anal-swab). This can be accomplished in a fairly privacy-preserving way using and .

Fully-vaccinated protesters in Italy are burning their vaccine passes in a powerful display of solidarity against the tying of civil liberties to vaccination status.
