Home Alone, Gremlins, all could have been made without Christmas but they added it in anyway out of coincidence, and we want to watch them any time of year. Rudolf, the Santa Clause, the Grinch, Elf, Miracle on 34th St., Would make no sense, if Christmas suddenly vanished, and we'd never watch them again. To say something is a Christmas movie really depends on if you think it matters if the movie can stand on its own without the existence of Christmas.

20th Century Fox’s idea to release LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD as a PG-13 movie where McClane says “yippie Kay yay mother (gunshot gunshot)” was the low point of the franchise
I have never watched my theatrical Blu-ray, preferring the “unrated” cut
