Question for the digital scholarly editions in #XML folks:
We have 40 000 medieval diplomas/letters encoded in XML and have published them as #OpenData. But they're in one ginormous XML-file that is difficult to even open on most computers.

Should we chunk them up? If so in what way? By time period? Language they're written in?

Or should we perhaps go so far to export each letter as its own little XML-file and ZIP them all up?

Just finished what I hope was my last review for a foreign funding agency this year. It was an excellent proposal, so I basically just had to read it and then extoll its virtues ;-) However, it nevertheless took me 3 hours. I do not benefit from this work in any way, I only do it out of solidarity: I know how difficult it is for funding agencies to find qualified reviewers for #DigitalHumanities projects (and interdisciplinary projects in general) and thus for applicants to get fair reviews.

It’s kinda funny that this preprint (which will never be “published”) is probably the paper for which people have most often contacted me just to tell me how much they like it…
