Today is one of these days when not even productive procrastination works. So it's only procrastination. Argh. I have to finish a presentation for the Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies at about using the @tadirah taxonomy and prep a guest lecture for BA students of about they can use for working w/ (historical) textual sources. Motivation: 0. Hopefully, last-minute hyperfocus will kick in eventually!

For some time now, @kfvanes has been arguing how important "tool criticism" is for and research. She has just published an article that pointedly illustrates the potential of such an approach: "Unpacking tool criticism as practice, in practice". Very worth reading! @computationalsocialscience

"As it turned out Bruno Latour was strongly supportive of our approach: the development of interdisciplinary methods of inquiry, which combine social science with art and design, became one of his principal occupations in the decades that followed."

The Palgrave Handbook of Digital Russia Studies was published in Open Access and has proven to be more popular than we ever thought possible (approaching 200k accesses within 24 months). As I explain on the podcast linked above, compiling the book would not have been possible today.

For The New Books Network, I spoke with Joanne Kuai about our Palgrave Handbook of Digital Russia Studies which came out in 2021, and more generally about how Russia's war against Ukraine has impacted Russia and Russian Studies since the book's release.
