Any discussion, programs, or work about #sustainability of #FreeSoftware or #OpenSource that doesn't center the individuals impacted by it, is missing the mark, and has a good chance of being a "wolf in sheep's clothing" that is either deliberately or inadvertently giving more priority to supporting those with more socioeconomic privilege.

Let's all work to redirect conversations to make a better world for people.

Post-lunch #FOSSY (not new) thoughts:

#FreeSoftware is generally a public good. The software can be used and reused infinitely.

But #FreeSoftware communities are not public goods. From a similar economic view, they're common pool resources. They need care and feeding in order to last.

Just as parks lose value as public goods if not maintained, #DigitalPublicGoods lose their value in the same way.

It's not enough to make lists.

We must support the people making #OpenSource public goods.

Drupal has been designated as a Digital Public Good.
