Does someone know what to think about Dillo's new homepage?
https://www.dillo.org/
The old one disappeared, was gone for weeeeks and then reappeared looking like redesigned by a totally different mind. Is it a fake and/or trap now?

My sit-on-the-couch computer is this #librebooted early 2010 Thinkpad X200t running #OpenBSD 7.2. I use it to run tut-tui (ssslowly), and do some *uber*-light web browsing with #w3m, #NetSurf, #luakit, sometimes #Dillo, and rarely, #Firefox and almost never #Chromium (even though it runs better than Firefox in OpenBSD* -- principles!!)

That's true, but thankfully there are wonderful command line tools like toot and tut.
Also, while it's a little buggy at times, #Brutaldon lets you access mastodon with a very basic web browser, even #lynx and #Dillo. :)
Me: Man, #Dillo is such a cute and awesome web browser.
Also me: Hey Dillo, can you increase the font size on this page so I can read it?
Dillo: No.
Me: NO??
Dillo: No. Not implemented. Manually edit the CSS if you want larger fonts.
Me: ----
Me: Hey #NetSurf!! How ya doin'??
^___^
I think it's darling that the #dillo web browser is (kinda?) still being worked on (at least as of 2015+).
Considering how endearingly *dinky* it is, how limited it is, how *gloriously* little RAM it uses, and the fact that It's been in development since 1999, I think that's all just freaking fantastic.
Go Dillo, go!!
I remember using it in the very early naughties, so I think it's fantastic that it's still around :)

Yay! The #Dillo web browser's website is back up!
... however, it seems that its rendering broke in dillo itself. Guess they forgot to test the page with it! :(

Oh no, does this mean the project is dead for good? :(
Hier j'ai pris le temps d'améliorer l'affichage de mon site sur les navigateurs minimalistes #Dillo et #NetSurf ~ https://hugo.soucy.cc/2021/nt/affichage-sur-netsurf-et-dillo.html

@sakkara nice one! I used to alternate between it and #dillo but recently found out my new love in the area of featherweight browsers: #NetSurf
Small, fast and renders CSS better than any of the other featherweights.
Give it a try, it worked on my Celeron "entry-level" machine similar to your specs.
Thanks #dillo browser splash page for referencing to Dr. James W. Prescott research page on the origins of peace and #violence: deprivation of physical affection in infant age and the punishment of sexual pleasure in adolescence. (quite surprised that an IT program refers this)

Learned from this essay on de-commoditized #protocol/#software, which #dillo browser recommended as MUST read. 🤔
Making sense. But firstly I was quit confused at what **commodity** means in English. Make sense now.
It’s a shame that #UNIX had the nature of commodity but it’s not utilized until the advent of #Linux/userland.
Ah, Thanks #dillo #web browser for reminding me that #javascript scripts from the pages in my browser can read my clipboard 😂.
I should disable this ‘feature’. And learn #javascript right now.

#dillo had already been a favorite of mine, but recently #NetSurf has caught my attention
What other ones do you recommend?
Just tested three web browsers on my veteran low-end (2Gb RAM) laptop running #openbsd, finally I got a GUI browser to check something (only use w3m before :joy:):
- #qutebrowser: cool for vim nerd as me, but quite heavy and slow, 200+MB res occupation;
- #dillo: very light and fast, only ~14MB mem!; pages are a bit ugly but sufficient for text reading;
- #midori: quite light, ~80MB mem.
#openbsd #qutebrowser #dillo #midori
Well, I decided to keep going anyway, and see how far could #FreeBSD stretch in such a low-resource environment.
Complete terminal session in tmux and the blessing of the #dillo web browser means that I can keep reading wikipedia and doing most of my stuff all under 180MB.
Pretty neat!
