View from Clogher Head on the Dingle Peninsula. Mount Brandon and The Three Sisters are in this view, also Clogher Beach. The pink light of a setting sun illuminate the rocks in the foreground. This is one of the most scenic areas of the Dingle Peninsula, in the South West of Ireland.

Gallarus Oratory, probably built between the 6th and 13th century AD. It is the best preserved early Christian Church in Ireland. Some believe it could have been a burial place. As with the stone beehive buildings, a corbelling technique has been used to enable the rain to run off.

An Fear Marbh at Sunset

On a lovely summer’s evening on the Dingle Peninsula I photographed An Fear Marbh, yet again. It’s a picturesque part of the country so you can hardly blame me for taking photos! 🙂

Today I learned that, in English, it’s called Inishtooskert, which is an (awful) Anglicised version of the Irish name, “Inis Tuaisceart”, or “Northern Island”.

From Fermoyle beach on the north side of the Dingle Peninsula, in the south west of Ireland. These are typical of the long waves on this side of the peninsula, where sandy beaches stretch forever and many surfers enjoy the long high waves.
