#Dionysos is a famously effeminate god. He even carries the epithet "Androgynos", describing him as someone doing both active, male things and passive, female ones, specifically during sexual intercourse. The Macedonians called him by the epithet Pseudanor (Ψευδάνωρ), "fake man", metaphorically an effeminate man.
He is the god who blurs the lines between male and female.

According to "the ritual imitates the myth"
#Dionysos was befallen with madness which #Hera put upon him and he rages in insanity over three continents. #Divine #madness is one of his major attributes.
A #ritual of #catharsis could be a #bacchanal rite in which ones dances and give oneself completely up to the rhythm and song. Dancing oneself to extasy, engage in divine madness, loosing oneself in the #dance, exhaust the body to the limits until you fall and emerging cleansed after the #rite.
