I like the potential of current technology, but I think it’s almost always squandered. Projects like the #DirtyWaveM8 show exactly that - it does so much with so little! It embraces the retro feel of having total control while using its processing power to the absolute limit. It’s an absolute joy to use

Can I say the same about current laptops and desktop environments? Definitely not. But a fully upgraded OG Amiga or Atari can get pretty close

Got a #DirtyWaveM8 yesterday! Yes, I also have a #PolyendTracker but this is a completely different animal. I’m surprised at how easy it was to learn the basic workflows, but I recommend watching the Red Means Recording videos (BTW does anyone know if Jeremy is on Mastodon?)

I made a little song on my #dirtywavem8 #music tracker toy.

This is probably the first musical thing I've ever made besides singing and humming random things tunelessly through the house

@henrymankini @DocBolus I’m a #groovebox fan too! I have the #SynthstromDeluge and the #DirtywaveM8 as my main ones at the moment although I’ve had the #NovationCircuit, the #KorgES1 and the #ElektronOctatrack in the past.
Also a big modular fan and have a few fixed architecture bits like the #MinilogueXD and the #Roland #JX08 . I have to say if I had the cash and the space I think I’d be at high risk of collecting all the Roland Boutiques!

I really wish the #dirtywavem8 had open source firmware so that the tracker would be usable from a computer.

The devs do supply a binary for a teensy 4.1, so you can still run it without owning a M8 (which is generous for an audio hardware company), but it's such a unique tracker in its own right. I love the #lsdj work flow, but with great fidelity and synthesis options.
