I had to go really slow and majorly focus to do it. Still recovering from a brain injury and while the mental challenges are good, it takes something to push through. Also bad neuropathy in my hands. Knitting is major on my road to recovery! Here's a pic of where I'm at now.

@LilPecan I'm a little scared at the moment because I've been fighting a cellulitis infection in my leg. Am already on "antibiotic therapy" (1,00mg penicillin daily for at least a year. Talked to all the docs today and we are adding in 5 days of vanqomycin. They are coming tonight to lay in a PICC line for that. Also am starting to "stress dose" - doubling or tripling steroids, which I already take for Addison's Disease. Yeesh!

Well I DID IT, people! Have my first FO (Finished Object) in ~5 years. Illness took away my ability to knit, and now, this FO is a testament to my ability to heal.

I am so grateful to be here. Just gotta sew in ends and block. I'm calling this my Magical Merlin Healing Shawl. The stripes remind me of all the unexpected pathways i've had to travel on this journey back, to The Land Of The Living... Yay, me!

Had one of those days where I could have just pancaked in the sun for some vitamin D like Xena (see pic). Did I? No, no sun available. I pancaked in bed all afternoon instead with a book and naps. @BrentToderian I'd love to hear your thoughts, even a thread, on making communities disability friendly. From cities to rural, why should us disabled folks not be able to access the world? Instead we get sequestered away, mostly in lor profit long term care facilities. I've been unable to walk for the last two years. I'm finally getting out of the nursing home soon, and I think about this a lot. How will I navigate the world with a walker?

@baba_lilith I TOTALLY know what you're talking about. They truly have No. Idea. Whatsoever. Us disabled folks are so sequestered away from mainstream society, most people genuinely cannot relate because they have no experience. And then they do have something medically bad happen, and it's often such a rude awakening.

@straphanger I hardly ever see the inclusion of transport needs for disabled people. I am one of them. I cannot currently walk. Mostly folks like me are just warehoused. Sadly.

@mirandayaver There is an arbitrariness to Medicaid especially that I find to be downright dehumanizing. And byzantine appeal processes. Rules that constantly change. And no representation, just a half dozen ombudspeople for the entire state. And if one can manage to save anything, including in retirement accounts, already meager benefits are taken away. And so, the medically induced poverty continues. :-(
